Shawls of Manila

Shawls are the most representative fashion accessory of the Spanish woman throughout our history and customs. 

The Spanish Shawl was handmade in China of natural silk colourfully embroidered with flowers and foliage having silk macramé fringe.

 

During the XIX century shawls were shipped to Spain and South America, becoming a popular costume used for women in theatre, bullfighting or parties.
